Effective development programming depends on strong systems for learning, accountability, and inclusion. With this commitment, SERAC-Bangladesh successfully organized the Strengthening the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Framework and Updating the Gender-Transformative Strategy Workshop on 22 June 2026 under the Space to Lead Project.

The workshop was organized by SERAC-Bangladesh with technical support from Plan International Bangladesh and financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Designed as a platform for institutional learning and capacity strengthening, the workshop focused on enhancing the organization’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework while reviewing and updating its gender-transformative strategy to ensure more effective and inclusive programming.
The one-day workshop brought together key members of the SERAC-Bangladesh team, including S. M. Shaikat, Executive Director; Shahina Yasmin, Program Lead; Md. Salim Miah, Deputy Director of Program; Md. Emran Hossain, Deputy Director of Finance and Administration, along with other staff members. Their active participation reflected the organization’s commitment to strengthening internal systems and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
The workshop was facilitated by Ananda Kumar Biswas, Humanitarian Practitioner, Researcher, and Consultant, who led participants through a series of practical and interactive sessions. Discussions focused on strengthening the organization’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning framework by improving project result tracking, promoting evidence-based decision-making, and enhancing the use of learning to improve programme performance. Participants also reviewed the organization’s gender-transformative strategy to ensure it remains responsive to evolving development priorities and continues to promote equality, inclusion, and meaningful participation across all programme interventions.

Through group work, interactive discussions, and experience-sharing sessions, participants reflected on current practices and explored practical approaches to making project implementation more inclusive, accountable, and results-oriented. The workshop encouraged staff to exchange ideas, identify opportunities for improvement, and strengthen collaboration across teams, ensuring that monitoring and learning systems effectively support programme quality and organizational effectiveness.
The workshop also provided valuable space for strategic reflection on how stronger MEL systems and gender-transformative approaches can contribute to more sustainable development outcomes. By integrating evidence, learning, and gender-responsive programming into organizational processes, SERAC-Bangladesh continues to enhance its ability to design and implement interventions that better respond to the needs of communities and uphold the principles of equity and social inclusion.

As part of the Space to Lead Project, this initiative reinforces SERAC-Bangladesh’s ongoing commitment to institutional strengthening and organizational excellence. With the continued technical support of Plan International Bangladesh and the generous financial support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the organization remains dedicated to building stronger systems, improving programme quality, and advancing transformative development outcomes for the communities it serves.
