To enhance awareness about healthcare and to champion the rights of marginalized adolescent girls, SERAC-Bangladesh hosted a friendly community outreach session in Bagerhat. With support from UNICEF and a joint effort by Eminence and SERAC-Bangladesh, this event was part of the inspiring project “Improving the Health and Well-being of Marginalized Adolescent Girls through Effective Engagement of All Relevant Stakeholders.” The gathering took place in the charming courtyard of the Chairman’s house in Beshorgati village (Ward 8, Bishnupur Union). Over 50 vibrant local adolescent girls joyfully participated in this engaging courtyard awareness campaign.
Adolescence is a vital time of growth, but sadly, girls in rural areas often encounter social hurdles and lack access to vital health information. To bridge these gaps, the session aimed to foster a welcoming environment where girls could freely explore their rights and opportunities. The discussion highlighted important topics such as sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), safe menstrual hygiene, and mental well-being during adolescence. Participants also learned about the serious consequences of child marriage and ways to prevent it within their communities.
The event was warmly observed by Md. Najmul Hasan, Innovation and Youth Specialist at SERAC-Bangladesh. An interactive and lively session was skillfully facilitated by Network Officer Md. Kamran Miah and Program Officer Sumaiya Rahman. The young girls enthusiastically took part, asked insightful questions, and expressed their commitment to caring for their health and well-being. SERAC-Bangladesh passionately believes that empowering young girls with accurate knowledge is essential to creating a future that is safe, equitable, and healthy for everyone.
