World Population Day 2025 | Youth at the Center of Change

Today, SERAC-Bangladesh was honored to join as one of the lead partners of the national observance of World Population Day 2025, held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka, under the global theme:
“Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world.”

The event, organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), convened distinguished representatives from government, national and international NGOs, and civil society to spotlight the importance of youth empowerment in shaping a healthier, more equitable future.

 

We were privileged to have Ms. Nurjahan Begum, Adviser for Health to the Government of Bangladesh, grace the event as Chief Guest. The program was chaired by Dr. Md. Sarwar Bari, Secretary, Medical Education and Family Welfare Division of MoHFW, with the presence of other distinguished special guests including Md. Saidur Rahman, Secretary, Health Services Division, MoHFW, Professor Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman, Honorable Special Assistant to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Catherine Breen Kamkong, Country Representative, UNFPA-Bangladesh, and Professor Dr. Nazmul Hosain, Director General, Directorate General of Medical Education. The program began with insightful opening remarks by Dr. Ashrafi Ahmed, NDC, Director General, Directorate General of Family Planning, who emphasized the importance of centering youth voices in reproductive health initiatives. The event concluded with closing remarks by Jobaida Begam, Additional Secretary, Medical Education and Family Welfare Division of MoHFW.

 

The SERAC-Bangladesh delegation, led by Mr. S M Shaikat, Executive Director, was joined by over 100 volunteers, who energized the event through their active participation, engagement, and vibrant presence.
