In a proactive step towards fostering a peaceful society, SERAC-Bangladesh recently organized a Peace Adda in Dhaka on 28th February, bringing together youth, volunteers, and partner representatives to discuss the social, political, and cultural factors that shape community harmony.
The session focused on the critical role of citizens in monitoring governance, practicing media literacy, and preventing the spread of misinformation. Participants explored how unverified news can escalate communal tensions and emphasized the importance of analyzing information critically before sharing it.
As a result of the dialogue, participants pledged not to believe or spread false information and committed to leading youth-driven campaigns, both online and offline. They also vowed to facilitate community-level dialogues and empower residents with verified, trustworthy information, reinforcing informed decision-making and civic responsibility.
Through these initiatives, the Peace Adda aims to build a resilient, informed, and peaceful society, promoting critical thinking, strengthening community cohesion, and ensuring that citizens are active participants in nurturing social harmony across Bangladesh.
