On 23rd February, SERAC-Bangladesh, in collaboration with SAAF, organized an Award Giving Ceremony in Mymensingh under the “Access to SRHR for Young Women” project.
The ceremony was facilitated by Md. Salim Miah, Deputy Director (Program) of SERAC-Bangladesh, and chaired by Md. Mazharul Haque Chowdhury, Deputy Director of Mymensingh District Family Planning Office. The event was presided over by Md. Matiur Rahman, Divisional Director of Family Planning, Mymensingh. Special guests included Md. Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Director of Family Planning Office, Netrokona, and Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Assistant Director of Mymensingh District Family Planning Office. Dr. Mohammad Firoz Khan Pathan, Assistant Director (CC) of the Netrokona District Family Planning Office, Md. Sirajul Haque Bhuiyan, Upazila Family Planning Officer, Netrokona, Badrunnesa Tanjy, Assistant Family Planning Worker at Mymensingh District, Dr. Nazmul Islam Patowari, Medical Officer (Clinic), Mymensingh, Dr. Nusrat Sharmin Tanu, Medical Officer (MCHFP), Netrokona, and Dr. Kripanath Pal, Medical Officer (MCH-FP) from Mymensingh, were among the distinguished speakers.
Also addressing the meeting were Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, Project Manager of the Nagar Maternity Center, Mymensingh, and Md. Wasim Akram, Manager (Admin & Finance) at the Nagar Maternity Center, Netrokona. Other attendees included directors, physicians, counselors, and reporters from 20 government and private health centers in Mymensingh and Netrokona districts. Additionally, the meeting was attended by Moyeen Uddin Raihan, News Editor of the Daily Shobuj, and SERAC-Bangladesh volunteers, Salma Akter, and Ubaidul Islam Rahat. SERAC-Bangladesh’s Program Officer, Songita Sarkar, Program Associate Shapla Akter, and Program Associate Robin Miah were also present.
The awards were presented to encourage health facilities and 30 service providers and stakeholders committed to offering accessible and non-judgmental SRH and PAC services to girls and women. These providers received awards from the Directorate General of Family Planning based on client feedback through comment boxes, which reflected improvements in service attitudes. The 30 service providers and stakeholders were recognized for their exemplary roles in ensuring accessible and friendly SRH and PAC services.
