Earlier this week, SERAC-Bangladesh and the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) signed a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen adolescent and youth-friendly health services across Bangladesh through 2030.

The agreement was formally signed by the Director General of Family Planning Dr. Ashrafi Ahmed, NDC and Executive Director of SERAC-Bangladesh S M Shaikat in the presence of senior representatives from both institutions, reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing youth health, rights, and wellbeing nationwide.

Under this partnership, DGFP and SERAC-Bangladesh will work together to strengthen Adolescent Friendly Health Services through the Volunteer Peer Leader (VPL) Model, expand awareness on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and family planning, promote meaningful youth participation in advocacy and policy dialogue, support evidence generation, and advance school health and WASH initiatives.

The occasion also carried special significance as it marked the final working day of Dr. Ashrafi Ahmed before her retirement as Director General of DGFP. In recognition of her leadership and longstanding contributions to adolescent and youth health in Bangladesh, SERAC-Bangladesh presented her with a commemorative crest as a tribute to her service and dedication.

Together, we move forward with a shared vision of building a healthier, more inclusive, and youth-responsive Bangladesh.
