On February 2–3, 2026, SERAC-Bangladesh successfully organized a two-day Capacity Self-Assessment workshop in Dhaka as part of its “Space to Lead” project. The workshop, based on the Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) approach, aimed to strengthen institutional capacity, encourage critical organizational reflection, and identify strategic priorities for sustainable growth and long-term effectiveness.
The initiative was funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and implemented with technical support from Plan International Bangladesh, reflecting a strong partnership in promoting organizational development and leadership within civil society.
Inclusive Participation and Collective Learning
The workshop brought together a diverse group of participants, including members of the Executive Committee and General Committee, senior management, staff members, and volunteers. Their active participation created an inclusive and participatory environment that encouraged open dialogue, shared learning, and collaborative analysis of SERAC-Bangladesh’s structures, policies, and operational practices.
This multi-stakeholder engagement ensured that voices from all levels of the organization were heard and valued, reinforcing the principles of transparency, accountability, and collective ownership.
Reflecting on Strengths, Challenges, and Future Priorities
Through structured discussions and interactive sessions, participants critically assessed the organization’s strengths, identified existing challenges, and explored future priorities. The OCA process provided a valuable platform to reflect on current practices and to map out strategic areas for improvement.
The insights generated during the workshop will guide SERAC-Bangladesh in enhancing its institutional systems, improving governance and management practices, and strengthening its overall organizational resilience.
