APA Narrative Campaing – 3

Promoting Youth Safety: SERAC-Bangladesh Completes SRHR Campaign with APA
SERAC-Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (APA), successfully conducted a digital campaign to engage young people in meaningful conversations around sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Using the APA Toolkit, the campaign adopted a “Safety” narrative approach, focusing on keeping youth safe rather than debating rights directly. This approach helped frame SRHR as a shared priority—something essential for protecting and supporting young people.
In Bangladesh, the concept of “safety” strongly resonates with young people, women, and marginalized communities, where access to SRHR information and services is often limited by fear, stigma, or social barriers. By framing SRHR through the lens of physical, emotional, and social safety, the campaign promoted protection, dignity, and security for all individuals. Throughout the campaign, SERAC-Bangladesh also remained flexible to adapt messaging based on guidance from APA.

Campaign Activities and Contents
The campaign used a variety of engaging digital content to reach young audiences:

  • Launch video to introduce the campaign and its key message
  • Quote cards highlighting youth perspectives and experiences
  • Safety polls and micro-surveys to encourage interaction and gather feedback
  • Youth voices content sharing reflections and personal insights from young people

These contents were shared across social media platforms to encourage dialogue and participation.

Youth Engagement and Feedback
The campaign generated strong engagement from young audiences. Youth actively responded to polls and story questions, sharing their thoughts and experiences about safe environments and access to information.
Participants also shared personal reflections on the importance of safe spaces, while comments and responses reflected a positive and respectful dialogue. This demonstrated that when SRHR conversations are framed around safety and well-being, young people are more willing to participate openly.

Narrative Impact
The campaign successfully positioned SRHR discussions around safety, dignity, and trust, helping to reduce discomfort around the topic. Many young people expressed that safe and supportive environments encourage them to ask questions and seek information without fear or judgment.
Through this initiative, SERAC-Bangladesh strengthened youth engagement and highlighted the importance of creating spaces where young people feel safe to learn, discuss, and access accurate information about their health and well-being.
