On 4 April 2026, a vibrant Peace Adda brought together passionate young voices in Khulna. The event was organized by SERAC Bangladesh with the support of CIVICUS, creating a safe and engaging platform where students from different colleges and universities could share ideas, perspectives, and solutions for a more peaceful society.
The Peace Adda created an inclusive environment where young people from diverse backgrounds and viewpoints could openly discuss some of today’s most pressing social challenges. Conversations centered around misinformation and disinformation, and how these issues can fuel fear, division, and violence within communities.
Participants explored how youth can respond responsibly during tense situations and play a proactive role in preventing mob violence. The discussions highlighted the importance of critical thinking, empathy, and fact-checking as essential tools for navigating today’s information landscape.
A major focus of the event was the role of young people in reducing unnecessary violence and promoting a culture of peace. Participants shared practical ideas on how youth can act as responsible bystanders- stepping in safely, speaking up, and supporting one another to stop violence and harmful behavior before it escalates.
The conversations emphasized that preventing violence is not only the responsibility of authorities; it is a shared duty that requires active participation from citizens, especially young people.
Another key theme was legal awareness. Participants stressed that knowing the law is both a right and a responsibility.
