SERAC-Bangladesh is working under the Improving SRHR in Dhaka project to increase the use of SRH services that uphold the rights of women and adolescent girls and are responsive to the needs of underserved and vulnerable communities living in urban areas of Dhaka city. It is aimed to improve availability and accessibility to quality SRH services for women and adolescents and to increase social support knowledge, and self-efficacy related to SRHR and SGBV.
Following the objectives, Projonon Shasthya Bondhus has formed 565 community support groups including adolescent girls, boys, mothers, and fathers in their communities. They have organized 1,612 community sessions within these sub-groups till August 2024 and reached more than 16,120 community people including parents, women, and adolescents. The sessions are aimed at raising awareness within the community people about pubertal physical and psychological changes, health and hygiene, menstrual hygiene management (MHM), family planning (FP), post-abortion care (PAC), ways to prevent child marriage and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). The project is technically supported by Ipas Bangladesh and funded by Global Affairs Canada via the HealthBridge Foundation of Canada.
