SERAC-Bangladesh along with Pathfinder International, under the USAID Shukhi Jibon project, has started a week-long celebration of Adolescent SRH service delivery week in the 20 Adolescent Friendly Health Centers (AFHCs) under the Directorate General of Family Planning in the four districts (Dhaka, Narayanganj, Mymensingh and Netrokona).
The celebration started on 21 October 2021 and continued till 27 October 2021.
The Adolescent SRH service delivery Week was observed with the following objectives-
➤ Promotion and dissemination of services provided in Adolescent friendly health centers under the Directorate General of Family Planning.
➤ Increasing the interest of adolescents in visiting Adolescent-friendly health centers.
➤ Creating cooperative relationships between young people and service providers.
The Volunteer Peer Leaders (VPLs) organized this week by decorating the centers with colourful banners and festoons with messages related to adolescent-friendly health services, the importance of sexual and reproductive health and adolescent friendly environment of the centers. A rally was organized and took place in the center and adjacent areas by the volunteer peer leaders (VPLs) with the help of their volunteer peer team in those selected 20 AFHCs during the celebration of this week. A recording of adolescent SRH service delivery week and available health services along with the hotline number for adolescent health services was played through miking around the center and its adjacent areas during the day of the rally. The miking was targeted to draw the attention of the 10-19 years old adolescents to inform about their nearby adolescent-friendly health centers and to motivate them to visit the centers.
The Medical Officer, SACMO, FWA, FWV of every adolescent-friendly health center joined the rally and shared information about the available health services to aware people. Youth, adolescents and community stakeholders of the adjacent area of the centers participated in the rally as well.
