On 30 March 2026, in observance of International Day of Zero Waste 2026, a meaningful waste collection and clean-up campaign was carried out at the T-Bandh area of Rajshahi. The initiative was organized by the Rajshahi Urban Youth Council with the support of SERAC-Bangladesh, with the vision of transforming Rajshahi into a clean, waste-free, and environmentally friendly city.
The campaign focused on collecting and removing waste scattered across the T-Bandh area, one of Rajshahi’s important public spaces. Through this effort, the organizers aimed not only to clean the area but also to promote responsible waste management practices among the local community.
As part of the program, nearby shopkeepers were encouraged to dispose of waste in designated places instead of dumping it indiscriminately. At the same time, awareness was raised among pedestrians and visitors about the importance of using dustbins properly. These small but significant actions are essential steps toward building a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility in urban spaces.
The active participation of young people in this campaign highlights the growing role of youth in addressing environmental challenges, particularly in the areas of waste management and plastic pollution prevention. Their commitment and leadership send a strong message that sustainable urban development requires collective action, awareness, and long-term behavioral change.
