SERAC-Bangladesh Observes Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 (Miking) 

SERAC-Bangladesh in collaborated with Ipas Bangladesh under the “Improving SRHR in Dhaka Project,” recently conducted a significant miking campaign to commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025. This initiative, funded by Global Affairs Canada through the HealthBridge Foundation, aimed to increase awareness and sensitization around adolescent health, menstrual hygiene, and gender-based violence (GBV) in communities across the GP catchment areas. 

The activity took place from May 19 to May 21, 2025. Focusing on Dissemination and Sticker Campaign, the outreach efforts reached various locations within Dhaka, including Nandipara, Basabo, Madertake, Sipahibag-tempu stand, Meradia Khilgaon, Khilgaon Bazar, Sipahibag Bazar, Korail T&T Colony, Haq Bazar, Madrasa Market, Chonpara, Demra, Ashkona, Ainusbag, Faydabad, Joynal Market, and Uttra. 

A total of 5 participants were directly involved in the activity, comprising 4 women and 1 man aged 20 and older. The team included 5 Youth Volunteers, 5 Staff members, and 5 Peer educators, highlighting a collaborative approach to community engagement. The core content of the activity addressed several crucial areas of Sexual and gender-based violence. Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Social Stigma reduction. Contraception. It’s important to note that while the campaign aimed to change knowledge and attitudes, it did not specifically focus on SRHR related knowledge or attitudes. A dedicated SBCC Officers Shafiullah Lemon, Kakoli Akter, Riyad Hossain, Rabiul Islam, Sumaia Akter Mim, team of trainers and facilitators facilitated the success of this campaign.
