After having a huge success in the previous five seasons back in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 SERAC-Bangladesh together with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, USAID, Bangladesh Youth Health Action Network (BYHAN), Coalition of Youth Organizations in Bangladesh (CYOB), IYAFP Bangladesh, Jhpiego, Population Action International (PAI), Marie Stopes Bangladesh, Population Reference Bureau (PRB), Pathfinder International, UNFPA Bangladesh, hosted the Bangladesh 6th National Youth Conference on Family Planning on September 21-22, 2021 at Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh, Dhaka, maintaining a social distance and virtually in an online platform with the Tagline “Commit And Act For Youth” where hundreds of young people and international speakers joined virtually.

 This year’s conference focused on the leadership capacity of youth to foster networking, learning exchange around Family Planning 2030 commitments, government and non-government programs, focusing on family planning, SRHR, and gender-based violence across the country, and also considering the crisis that has arisen for COVID-19. The conference’s focused agenda following FP-2030 reflections was updated to showcase a better understanding of youth around post-COVID-19 situations and refreshing commitments around youth reproductive rights and ensuring health services. 

The conference Secretary General and SERAC Executive Director S M Shaikat opened the event in the presence of the former Director General of the Directorate General of Family Planning Quazi AKM Mohiul Islam, Pathfinder International Senior Country Director Caroline Crossbie, Advance Family Planning’s Senior Program Officer Marvyn Christian, UNFPA Chief of Health Dr. Vibhavendra Raghuyamshi, Youth Champion MD. Nazmul Hasan, and the Director (MCH Services) of DGFP Dr.Muhammad Sharif chaired the opening session.

The Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Zahid Maleque, MP joined the conference as the Chief Guest. Besides, the Country Representative of UNFPA Bangladesh, Asa Torkelsson, Director General of  Family Planning Shahan Ara Banu, NDC chaired the event’s closing session.
