Monthly CAGs Meeting on SRH issues

SERAC-Bangladesh, continues to make significant strides in enhancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) within the Dhaka region collaborated with Ipas Bangladesh funded by Global Affairs Canada through the HealthBridge foundation of Canada. A recent monthly meeting of the Community Action Groups (CAGs) highlights the ongoing efforts and positive impact of the project.

The project, active in Dhaka, Bangladesh, focuses on increasing volunteers’ knowledge on critical topics such as SRHR and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), while also addressing challenging issues at the community level.

A recent “Monthly meeting CAG on SRH issues” serves as a prime example of the project’s engagement. This meeting, held from June 2nd to June 26th, 2025, brought together a total of 76 participants. The activity locations spanned various areas including Ashkona and Ainusbag, Team West Katasur, Team Mirpur-10 (Block-C), Arifabad, Team Shikdar CNG pump Darusalam, Mirpur-1, Kashmir Tolla, Shadhinota Sarani, and Madina Chattar Shahid Faruk Road.

A core objective of these activities is to influence knowledge and attitudes concerning abortion. The content of this particular meeting included comprehensive sexual education, contraception, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). It also addressed sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). The project engages a diverse group of individuals. Out of the 123 participants, 84 were women and 39 were men. The age breakdown shows 35 participants aged 19 and younger (27 women, 8 men) and 88 participants aged 20 and older (57 women, 31 men). A significant portion of the participants were community action group volunteers.

Improving SRHR in Dhaka Project continues its vital work in strengthening SRHR knowledge and addressing critical issues within the community. The ongoing engagement with volunteers and community members is crucial for fostering a more informed and empowered population regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights.
