Strengthening Youth Leadership: Batch 5 Green Entrepreneurship Training Completed in Gangachara

From 14–18 November 2025, SERAC-Bangladesh, in partnership with Democracywatch and with support from the British Council, successfully organized a five-day Youth Green Enterprise Training at the Badarganj Upazila Hall Room in Rangpur. The training brought together 30 enthusiastic young participants — students and aspiring entrepreneurs — eager to learn how to develop environmentally friendly and sustainable business solutions. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Badarganj, and Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Upazila Youth Development Officer, who welcomed the participants and encouraged them to apply their learning practically in their communities. They emphasized that the ultimate goal of the training was not just knowledge acquisition but the successful implementation of green initiatives that protect both life and nature.
Throughout the five days, participants engaged in interactive sessions, group activities, and hands-on demonstrations designed to build green entrepreneurial skills. They explored key concepts such as green entrepreneurship, environmentally friendly production, sustainable business models, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and community-based innovation. Practical exercises enabled them to develop confidence in starting their own green initiatives, while real-life examples and mentor guidance provided inspiration and insight into sustainable business practices. The training equipped the youth with knowledge and practical tools to balance economic, environmental, and social priorities in their ventures.
Participants shared that the training was transformative, helping them better understand eco-friendly business models and giving them the courage to initiate small-scale green projects. They reported improved leadership and communication skills, enhanced teamwork, and a renewed sense of responsibility towards the environment. The mentorship sessions, where experienced professionals shared their success stories, were particularly motivating and highlighted the importance of persistence, creativity, and sustainability in entrepreneurship.
The closing day of the training was marked by a vibrant cultural program featuring songs, dances, and group performances, which fostered friendship, team spirit, and a celebratory atmosphere among the participants. The event was further enriched by the presence of Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, Programme Manager (Non-Formal Education) of the British Council, and Ms. Rakhi Gopal Debnath, Project Coordinator from Democracywatch. Their engagement included reviewing participants’ progress, providing constructive feedback, and emphasizing the significance of global collaboration for youth-led green initiatives. This encouragement inspired participants to envision broader impacts for their community-based projects.
Following the training, the British Council team conducted a follow-up visit to Rangpur Sadar to observe a participant-led green initiative, evaluate progress, interact with local youth, and provide guidance for future development. Such follow-ups reinforce the practical application of the training and highlight the ongoing support for young entrepreneurs.
This five-day Youth Green Enterprise Training was more than a learning opportunity; it was a significant step toward empowering youth leadership, fostering innovation, and instilling sustainable thinking. Participants are now prepared to act as agents of green change in their communities, promoting environmentally responsible business practices and contributing to a greener, more resilient Bangladesh. Through the Youth Connect initiative, SERAC-Bangladesh and Democracywatch, with support from the British Council, continue to nurture the next generation of green entrepreneurs across Rangpur.
