The word “Adda” embodies the essence of informal yet meaningful conversations in Bengali culture, fostering a sense of community and understanding. SERAC-Bangladesh organized a Peace Adda in Mymensingh, bringing together youth groups from various communities to create a platform for open dialogue on critical societal challenges, such as political unrest, economic inequalities, environmental concerns, and mental health issues. The event highlighted the instability among students in local colleges, focusing on the gaps in existing systems to manage such unrest and its broader societal impact. Participants engaged in collaborative discussions, emphasizing awareness among youth groups as a key to inspiring positive change and social harmony.
The Peace Adda served as a transformative space, promoting empathy, mutual respect, and actionable solutions. Participants envisioned a more harmonious future, proposing stronger dialogue between students and institutions, community initiatives to reduce unrest, and empowering youth as advocates for peace. SERAC-Bangladesh’s initiative showcased how grassroots efforts can address societal challenges, demonstrating the power of dialogue in fostering understanding and unity.
