Almost 1200 volunteers known as Projonon Shasthya Bondhu forming 120 community action groups (CAG) are currently working under the Improving SRHR in Dhaka project in 30 wards around Dhaka North and South City Corporation. They have received basic orientation on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender-based violence (GBV). Besides this, every month the SBCC officers under this project conduct monthly meetings with 5 CAGs in 5 different areas.
These meetings are organized to revisit their learnings on SRHR and GBV, emerging challenges in their communities, and how to deal with them. Besides, volunteers got a scope to network among themselves through these meetings. Till now SERAC project staff has conducted 42 monthly meetings with 406 Community Action Group members in project areas. These meetings work as a support platform for the volunteers to conduct their community-level events and knowledge dissemination sessions. Apart from this, it works as a safe space for the volunteers to share their experiences.
