Exchange and Learning: Volunteer Sharing Meeting to Reflect on Visit Insights

On December 17, 2024, SERAC-Bangladesh hosted an Exchange-Sharing Meeting with volunteers at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh as part of the Improving SRHR in Dhaka Project. The event was both a celebration and an opportunity for volunteers to exchange experiences and insights with their peers, the Projonon Shasthya Bondhus. The gathering saw participation from 101 youth volunteers representing 60 different wards of Dhaka North and South City Corporations, along with representatives from partner organizations OGSB, BAPSA, RHSTEP, and Ipas Bangladesh.

Inspirational Remarks from Leaders

  • Dr. Ziaul Ahsan, Project Director of Ipas Bangladesh, welcomed participants and youth SRHR champions with a heartfelt speech. She emphasized that such exchange-sharing meetings offer unforgettable experiences and valuable lessons for all attendees.
  • SM Shaikat, Executive Director of SERAC-Bangladesh, inspired the champions to rise as community leaders. He encouraged them to motivate their peers and envision themselves as catalysts for change through youth-led advocacy sessions.

Shared Experiences and Learnings

  • Tania Tasnin shared memorable moments from her learning visit, highlighting how such experiences contribute to personal growth and community engagement. She emphasized how the involvement of volunteers in their communities’ nurtures leadership skills and enhances their ability to make meaningful contributions.

Recognizing Excellence

The event also celebrated the contributions of 39 youth volunteers, who were honored with Best Performer Awards for their exceptional efforts in promoting sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services within their communities.

The event was jointly moderated by Tasnia Ahmed, Program Manager of SERAC-Bangladesh, and Kakoli Akter, SBCC Officer. Other key team members present included Rabiul Islam, Md. Shafiullah, Riyad Hossain, and Sumaia Akter, who ensured the meeting’s smooth execution. This exchange-sharing meeting not only acknowledged the vital contributions of volunteers but also reinforced their commitment to advancing SRHR services. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, the event served as a cornerstone for building stronger, more informed community leaders dedicated to creating lasting change.
