Young people are leading the social charge in adoption and innovation. However, disparities persist, particularly in low-income countries and among young women, who often have less access of knowledge, skills and information compared to their male counterparts. While there is an urgent need to enhance knowledge inclusion, youth are largely recognized as ‘innovation creator’ using their innovation to drive change and create solutions to reduce child marriage, that have negative impact as teenage pregnancy and school dropout. As the 2030 deadline for the SDGs approaches, the role of young people in innovation is essential for addressing global issues.
By celebrating their contributions, we can inspire further innovation and collaboration towards achieving sustainable development. With that note, join us on International Youth Day as we discuss the interconnected issues of child marriage, teenage pregnancy and school dropout (often referred to as the ‘CTS nexus’).
To address this complex reality, we need holistic approaches that work across all sectors of community and empower young people to take the lead in improving youth sexual and reproductive health and rights. Our youth speaker, Abida Sultana, Peer Group Mentor of SERAC Bangladesh will share field experiences and case studies that address the CTS nexus, highlighting the importance of both data and movement building for successful, sustainable solutions.
The discussion will take place on August 12th from 7:30 to 9:00 PM Bangladesh time.
