The Open House Day organized by SERAC-Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Rangpur Urban Youth Council and supported by UN-Habitat with funding from the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF), was a notable event for fostering youth engagement and urban sustainability. This impactful gathering brought together a diverse array of young leaders of the recent student movement, including Scouts, Girl Guides, Red Crescent members, representatives from third-gender communities, indigenous groups, ethnic minorities, and local organizations.
The event showcased a commitment to inclusivity by ensuring that all voices were heard in discussions focused on the future of Rangpur. Participants engaged in open consultations to explore collaborative efforts with the Rangpur Urban Youth Council, aiming to strengthen its role in driving youth-led change.
These vibrant discussions provided a crucial platform for sharing ideas, aspirations, and challenges, emphasizing the significant role of youth in shaping urban policies and decision-making processes. The Open House Day underscored the power of unity in promoting active youth participation and its vital impact on the city’s growth and development.
To sustain this momentum, a dedicated Facebook group was established to connect all participants. This online platform will enable ongoing communication, allowing for the continued exchange of feedback, ideas, and collaborative efforts. It will serve as a vital resource for future projects, further strengthening the network of young leaders committed to driving sustainable change in Rangpur.
