On September 9th, SERAC-Bangladesh brought its NutriTeens initiative to life with an engaging social media live show titled “Teen Diet Solutions: Beat Obesity, Overweight & Underweight!” This program is dedicated to empowering adolescents with the knowledge and tools needed to make smart dietary choices for a healthier future.
The event was led by Clinical Dietician Anika Nawshin, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. Youth champion Aniva Akter from Mirpur provided valuable insights into adolescent nutrition. Mr. SM Shaikat, Executive Director of SERAC-Bangladesh, gave a compelling presentation, underscoring the organization’s dedication to improving youth nutritional practices. The event was seamlessly coordinated and moderated by Katha Mondal Dristi, Program Development Associate at SERAC.
Mr. Shaikat emphasized the crucial link between youth health and the nation’s future, stating, “To secure Bangladesh’s future, we must ensure our youth are healthy. A nation thrives only when its young generation is fit and well. Poor dietary habits today could lead to higher healthcare costs and a shrinking workforce tomorrow.”
Anika Nawshin encouraged creative healthy eating, advising, “Don’t just ditch junk food—transform it into a healthier version! Get creative and make indulgent treats nutritious and delicious.”
Youth champion Aniva Akter shared her essential tips for a healthy life: “Vegetables, fruits, adequate water, and regular exercise.” She highlighted how these elements are vital for providing essential nutrients, boosting immunity, maintaining metabolism, and managing weight.
The event featured insightful discussions on managing underweight and nutritional deficiencies, preventing obesity and overweight, and promoting healthy lifestyle changes. It effectively closed the knowledge gap on how nutrition affects overall health and well-being.
In summary, the NutriTeens live show by SERAC-Bangladesh was a powerful platform for education and empowerment, guiding adolescents towards better nutritional health. Through collaborative efforts and informed actions, we can lead the younger generation towards a healthier and more prosperous future.
