Youth Storytelling for Resilient Futures: Empowering Young Voices in Noakhali

As part of the Youth Catalyst initiative by the UNFPA Bangladesh, supported by Sida, SERAC-Bangladesh successfully organized the “Youth Storytelling for Resilient Futures” workshop in Noakhali on 28 October 2025. The event served as an inspiring platform for young people to creatively express how climate change affects their daily lives, health, and access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services through the art of storytelling.

The workshop brought together 20 youths from different institutions who shared powerful and heartfelt stories about how floods, cyclones, and environmental changes are reshaping their communities. Participants from Hatiya Upazila, one of the most climate-vulnerable and hard-to-reach areas of Noakhali, shared firsthand experiences of how recurring natural disasters disrupt essential SRHR and healthcare services, especially for young women and adolescents.

Facilitated by MD. Nazmul Hasan, Innovation and Youth Specialist at SERAC-Bangladesh, the workshop encouraged youth participants to use storytelling as a tool for advocacy and change – transforming their lived experiences into powerful narratives that can inform policy and inspire collective climate action. The session was supported by Md. Najmul Islam, Finance Associate, and Sapna Rani Mandal, Intern at SERAC-Bangladesh.

The Youth Storytelling for Resilient Futures workshop in Noakhali is part of a nationwide effort under the Youth Catalyst Project to amplify youth perspectives on climate and SRHR. By fostering creativity, empathy, and resilience, SERAC-Bangladesh continues to empower the next generation of changemakers to build a more inclusive, aware, and climate-resilient Bangladesh.
