Youth Voices Through Art: District-Level Competition on “Climate Change, SRHR, and Service Challenges” Held in Noakhali

In an inspiring celebration of youth creativity and advocacy, SERAC-Bangladesh organized a District-Level Art Competition on “Climate Change, SRHR, and Service Challenges” under the Youth Catalyst initiative of UNFPA Bangladesh, with support from Sida. The event brought together 30 young artists — 15 from schools and 15 from colleges — who used their imagination and artistic skills to depict how climate change affects health, rights, and community resilience.

The competition aimed to amplify youth voices and encourage them to express complex social and environmental issues through art, fostering awareness and dialogue at the community level.

The event was honored by the presence of Ms. Catherine Breen Kamkong, Country Representative of UNFPA Bangladesh, who interacted with the young artists, explored their artwork, and appreciated their creative reflections on climate and rights. She was accompanied by members of the UNFPA team, who commended the initiative for engaging youth in such meaningful and innovative ways.

The program was chaired by Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Deputy Director, DGFP–Noakhali, and attended by Dr. Faisal Md. Tauhiduzzaman, Medical Officer, Civil Surgeon Office, and Pompa Kar, Upazila Women Affairs Officer, DWA. They all shared their commitment to supporting youth engagement and addressing climate-linked challenges that affect health and gender equality in the region.

The session was facilitated by Md. Nazmul Hasan, Innovation and Youth Specialist at SERAC-Bangladesh, who welcomed Ms. Kamkong and shared the objectives of the event. The program was successfully coordinated with the support of Md. Najmul Islam, Finance Associate, and Sapna Rani Mondol, Intern, from SERAC-Bangladesh.

At the end of the competition, the top five artists from each group were honored for their exceptional and thought-provoking artwork, which powerfully reflected the realities and aspirations of young people navigating the intersections of climate change, SRHR, and community resilience.
This initiative exemplifies how creative platforms like art can inspire collective understanding, empower youth, and build momentum toward a climate-resilient and rights-based future.
