On May 17, 2024 SERAC-Bangladesh office in Dhaka welcomed a distinguished delegation from the European Parliamentary Forum (EPF) on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. This visit underscored the global commitment to enhancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), bringing together key stakeholders from both Europe and Bangladesh to foster dialogue and collaboration.
The delegation, featuring British MP Rupa Huq and EPF Program Officer Adrien Léger, embarked on a comprehensive tour of SERAC-Bangladesh’s initiatives. Their visit was marked by a vibrant community session in the slum area and an insightful volunteer orientation training on SRHR held in Mirpur through the ISRHRD project. This session provided an invaluable opportunity to witness firsthand the impactful work being done at the grassroots level to educate and empower individuals on essential health and rights issues.
The day’s events concluded with an informal lunch. The lunch was graced by prominent figures in public health and advocacy, including Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel, a noted public health specialist; Monjun Nahar, the advocacy lead of Marie Stopes Bangladesh; Rashid Zaman, Health Advisor at the British High Commission; Dr. Ziaul Ahsan, ISRHRD Project Director at Ipas Bangladesh; and key members of the SERAC team, including Executive Director SM Shaikat, Deputy Director MD Salim Miah, and Program Manager Tasnia Ahmed.
This gathering highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement in advancing SRHR. The diverse perspectives and expertise shared during the lunch emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts to address the complex challenges in the realm of sexual and reproductive health.
