SERAC-Bangladesh is going to contextualize 5 different types of Bangla folk songs including Puthi and Gambhira to present regionally contextualized health and family planning messages to young people through the ‘Knowledge SUCCESS’ project launched by SERAC-Bangladesh, with the technical assistance of Johns Hopkins University and supported by USAID.
An inception meeting of the project took place in collaboration with the MCH-Services Unit of the DGFP. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Director (MCH Services) & Line Director (MCRAH) MCH Unit, Directorate General of Family Planning.
SERAC’s Executive Director S M Shaikat quoted that the Government is working to deliver family planning and reproductive health services to the doorsteps of all people by 2030. To accelerate this, the project will be implemented in Chittagong, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Barisal, and Rajshahi, this project will develop contents based on the needs of local youth.
Nusrat Sharmin Resma, Senior Program Officer of SERAC-Bangladesh delivered a thematic project presentation analyzing how the project activities will be conducted at the local level. Speakers including- Dr. Nurun Nahar Begum, Line Director (CCSDP), CCSDP Unit, Directorate General of Family Planning, Dr. Manjur Hossain, Program Manager (A&RH), Shahnaj Parveen, Deputy Director, IEM Unit, Family Planning and SRH Specialist Dr. Jebun Nessa Rahman, USAID-Shukhi Jibon Project’s Adolescent Behavior Change Manager of Pathfinder International Md Sohrab Hossain, Dr. Azad Rahman, Technical Officer, UNFPA Bangladesh, and ISRHRD Project Manager of Ipas Bangladesh Dr. Ziaul Ahsan were among others. The speakers provided constructive feedback on the project activities to make the contents reach more adolescents.
The meeting chair Dr. Mahmudur Rahman mentioned that this project will increase awareness among disadvantaged adolescents and young people about health rights and ensure access to reproductive health services and accurate information. Moreover, he promised to support this initiative ensuring coordination between all units of the DGFP.
Among others, SERAC-Bangladesh’s Program Associate Lutfa Pathan, Communication Associate Md. Kamran Miah and Finance & Admin Associate Faruk Ahmed were among others present in the meeting.
