Action 2015: Bangladesh Coalition hosted a National Sharing on ?SDG : Bangladesh Position and way forward? on Thursday 10 September 2015 at 10:30 am at CIRDAP Auditorium, Topkhana Road, Dhaka. Organizations represented at the coalition include World Vision Bangladesh, SERAC-Bangladesh, HelpAge International, Brit, Save the Children, and Steps towards Development.
The chief guest M A Mannan MP, state Minister for the ministry of Finance and Planning said, the government is very much optimistic in implementing sustainable development goals and engaging backward communities, strengthening systems to fight violence and injustices.
Professor Dr. Shamsul Alam? (Senior Secretory), Member GED, Planning Commission of Bangladesh will presented a keynote paper on Bangladesh?s journey with MDGs to SDGs. He remarked points how the government plans including 7th 5 year financial plan has incorporated the goals already.
SERAC-Bangladesh?s Executive Director S M Shaikat said, young people are the heart of every development, and we must be ready to accommodate them on leadership spaces, for a better and sustainable outcome of these SDGs.
Shabira Sultana Nupur, National Advocacy Coordinator of World Vision Bangladesh also presented a slide show, where she outlines how Action/2015 Bangladesh team has been working together with the global actors in mobilizing actions on post-2015 agenda at country level and beyond.
Dr. M M Akash, Professor, Dhaka University and Dr. Abul Bashar, Research Fellow, BIDS were also guest speakers at the program, while Ranjan Karmakar of Steps Towards Development moderated the program and Chandan Z Gomes presided over the panel.
Civil society actors in the development field actively participated in the discussion and provided inputs for sharing at the UN General Assembly delegation from Bangladesh.
