S M Shaikat Joins UN Women Asia and the Pacific’s 30 for 2030 Cohort

We are excited to share the news that Our Executive Director, S M Shaikat, has been chosen as a member of the prestigious 30 for 2030 cohort by UN Women Asia and the Pacific. This remarkable achievement not only recognizes his dedication and expertise but also highlights the significant role SERAC-Bangladesh plays in the journey towards youth empowerment.

The new cohort brings a range of perspectives and talents; from an Indian musician and artist to a Cambodian biodiversity enthusiast, to Nepali grassroots teachers, to mental health activists, this is just a snippet of the diversity. With this fresh perspective, we are very excited to announce that the new cohort also brings more representation for the LGBTQI+ community and people with disabilities.

The new group also brings new renowned pressure to combat the issues that our youth face today. This upcoming year, the whole cohort plans to focus on innovation, technology, online gender-based violence, sports and acceleration of GEF commitments in our region. A few members in the new cohort have hit the ground running and have committed to helping develop the second edition of the toolkit, making it more accessible and reflective of current times and tech. This second edition is set to be launched a year after the network’s launch, in August 2023.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Our Executive Director, S M Shaikat for this well-deserved recognition. His selection not only reflects his exceptional leadership but also reaffirms our commitment to advancing the rights and well-being of youth in Bangladesh and beyond.

Join us in celebrating this milestone achievement and stay tuned for updates on the impactful work of the 30 for 2030 cohort.
