SERAC Joins APA Membership Meeting
The membership meeting of the Asia Pacific Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (APA) has kicked off for 2 days in Bangkok on November 10th. SERAC-Bangladesh, being one the most active members of the alliance joined the meeting as represented by our Executive Director SM Shaikat.
The meeting has specific objectives including providing the overview of global and regional opportunities and tools for civil society to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights in Asia and the Pacific, in spe
cific ICPD30, Beijing+30, Summit of the future and the international human rights system. It will also explore opportunities for joint regional advocacy and intersectional action amongst the APA network members and partners to collectively encourage accountability with rights bearers for the fulfillment of SRHR commitments and obligations.
Our Executive Director SM Shaikat spoke and presented on the utilization of data on SRHR and digitization, highlighting the challenges like online gender based violence, and unlock opportunities ahead and prevent issues that are stopping progresses in Asia and the Pacific.
The event was attended by the Deputy Regional Director of UNFPA Asia Pacific Regional Office Aleksandar Sasha Bodiroza, and moderated by the APA Executive Director Alexandra Johns.
